24 Hour Claims Service
If you have a homeowners' loss…
There are some things that you can do to reduce your chances
of a loss. We outline some seasonal tips in our Weather
Center and other general tips in the Home
& Child Safety Section.
If something happens to your property or personal possessions,
there are things you can do to help us help you and make the
entire process smoother.
Before a Loss
1) Advance Preparation.
We recommend you create an inventory of all your personal
belongings before a loss occurs. If you suffer a loss, having
an inventory of all your property will speed in the resolution
of your claim and ensure that you have not overlooked any
damaged items. If you have access to a camcorder, we suggest
you make a video record of every room in your house or other
photographic documentation of your belongings. Of course,
both of these documents should be kept in a safe place that
is protected from fire or other types of loss.
2) Periodically review your coverage.
Discovering you are underinsured after a loss occurs can be
devastating. You can use our Home
Rebuilder Tool to estimate the cost to rebuild your home.
Do you have any expensive items? Some items carry specific
limits and may need to be specifically insured. If you have
any questions, call your local sales office to review your
coverage.
3) Plan your escape route. In an emergency, everyone
must know what to do and act quickly. Prepare an escape route
and make sure everyone in your family knows the plan and where
to meet once out of the house.
1) Safety First. Your
family’s safety is the most important thing. In an emergency,
make sure everyone gets out of the house or to a safe place.
2) Call the authorities.
As soon as you determine that everyone is safe, call the Fire
Department or Police, if appropriate.
3) Call us. Use our claim
reporting number 1-800-713-7379 24-hours a day and leave the
rest to us. Our claims representatives can provide immediate
funds for temporary living and replacement clothing if necessary.
We will assist you in every phase of recovering from the loss.
4) Protect your property.
We can assist you with emergency repairs and other services,
to protect the property from further damages until repairs
can be completed.
