Fewer drivers are on the road, which means fewer accidents. With this in mind, we are announcing our Personal Auto Customer Relief Refund, which will return approximately $250 million to our customers. Here's how it works:

  • Personal auto insurance customers will receive a 15% refund on two months of their auto premium.
  • This refund will be delivered in two payments: Active policies as of April 30, 2020 will receive payments equal to 15% of their monthly May auto policy premium, and active policies as of May 31, 2020 will receive payments equal to 15% of their monthly June auto policy premium.
  • Payments will be rounded to the nearest dollar, and the minimum refund will be rounded up to $10.
  • We are planning to issue the refund in the manner you made your most recent payment or by check.
  • Your refund will happen automatically, and you do not need to call us to get your refund.

Information for Business Insurance Customers with Employees Receiving Furlough Pay

Please keep proper payroll records to show your premium auditor if you have furloughed employees. Most states have adopted the use of class code 0012 as the placeholder for the ‘paid not worked' wages for your furloughed employees due to COVID-19. There will not be a premium charge associated with this class code.

There are some minor state variations, please see below:

  • Delaware and Pennsylvania: Use code 1212 because 0012 is a landscaping class code. There will not be a premium charge associated with the 1212 class code either.
  • New York: Furlough pay or wages for employees that are performing clerical work from home, class code 8873 will apply. This is a telecommuter type class code and is at a rate similar to clerical.
  • For customers reporting monthly payroll, please notify your Underwriter if you have New York ‘paid not worked' wages or wages paid to employees performing clerical work from home so we can add the classification to your policy and reporting form for more exact payment of premium.
    • There is no need to report or pay premium on wages classified as 0012/1212. We will capture this exposure at audit for state reporting compliance.
