Frequently asked questions
- What is RightTrack?
RightTrack is an app-based program that puts you in control of your auto policy savings by evaluating your safe driving habits. We have a few different programs you may enroll in, depending on your state and your type of policy. Is there a cost associated with the program?
The RightTrack program runs on the Liberty Mutual Mobile app, which is free, but like other apps on your phone, it uses data. Applicable data charges will be the responsibility of the smartphone owner. What is a driving score?
RightTrack creates a score by evaluating your driving habits. That driving score will be used to create your customized price. Your driving score will appear in the app and be applied to your policy either after you complete the 90-day program or at renewal.Which driving behaviors affect my driving score?
The driving behaviors observed by RightTrack that can affect your driving score include braking, phone usage, driving speed, and time of day tracked in most states. In some states, the driving behaviors observed by RightTrack include braking, acceleration, and the time of day that you drive. How can I view my driving performance?
At any time while we are monitoring your driving, you can review your driving patterns and see your driving score by monitoring the RightTrack dashboard in the app. Will the driving score transfer when I add or replace a vehicle on my policy?
Yes. If you change or add new vehicles at any point, we will apply your driving score to those vehicles. What driving data is collected?
A complete list of collected data can be viewed at Telematics-Data. This list will be updated as the data we collect changes. We may use the data in connection with any insurance claim, including for purposes of reporting, investigating and adjusting such claim(s), as permitted by law. We may also use the data for underwriting purposes and, on an aggregate basis, for research purposes. We reserve the right to collect data as long as the technology is in use and may retain the collected data indefinitely, subject to state requirements. Please refer to the RightTrack Terms & Conditions and Accident Assistance Terms & Conditions for additional details on how Liberty Mutual protects your privacy. - What is the RightTrack Continuous program?
It's an ongoing program that puts you in control of your auto policy savings by evaluating your safe driving habits. After you enroll, simply download and drive. The app will observe your driving habits to customize your rate at each renewal based on the driving score of all participating drivers on your policy. Safe drivers can earn savings up to 30%, while drivers with increased risk factors may see an increase in premium.Once you enroll in RightTrack, you will immediately receive a participation discount of up to 15% on your auto policy. Participating drivers on your policy will need to download the Liberty Mutual Mobile app and register. Then, all you have to do is drive as you normally would. The app will determine your driving score and apply it to your policy at each renewal. The combination of your participation discount and your driving score may result in a premium increase or decrease based on your driving.
How is my overall score calculated?
We calculate your policy driving score based the driving behavior and risk factors of all participating drivers on your policy. The impact that RightTrack has on your premium is calculated using a combination of your policy driving score and participation at each policy renewal. This can result in a price increase or decrease, based on your driving.
Can I opt-out of RightTrack?
Yes. Participating drivers can opt out at any time by contacting our service team. Your insurance coverage will continue, but your participation discount may change or be removed from your policy and your premium will be adjusted to reflect this change. If all participating drivers opt out within 45 days of signing up, you will lose your participation discount, but your driving score(s) will not be used to calculate your premium at renewal. If a participating driver on your policy opts out after 45 days, your participation discount may change, and their driving score will be used to calculate your premium at renewal. Participating drivers who opt out after 45 days OR are removed from the program because we weren't able to receive data from them for a period of 45 days may receive a non-fulfillment surcharge if there isn't enough driving behavior data for us to calculate a driving score.
How much can I save?
Your policy's participation level, driving behavior, and risk factors, determine whether your price goes up or down each policy term. Safe drivers can save up to 30%, while riskier driving behaviors can result in a price increase. When will I find out about my price changes?
At renewal, you will receive new policy documents that reflect any changes to your premium for participating in the RightTrack program. Your new rate will reflect the impacts of your participation in RightTrack, along with impacts of any additional factors that may influence your auto policy's premium, such as general price increases and changes in coverage. - What is the RightTrack 90-day program?
It's a program that puts you in control of your auto policy savings by evaluating your safe driving habits. After you enroll, simply download the app, drive for 90 days, and save up to 30% for safe driving. Discounts are earned by being a safe driver. Some drivers could see a rate increase.Once you enroll in RightTrack, you will immediately receive a 10% or 15% initial discount on your auto policy based on where you live. Drivers on your policy will need to download the Liberty Mutual Mobile app and register. Then, all you have to do is drive as you normally would for 90 days. We will determine your final driving score and apply it to your policy at renewal. In some states, we will determine your final driving score and apply it to your policy at the end of the program.
How is my final score calculated?
The final driving score is determined by evaluating the driving habits of drivers on your policy for 90 days. That score will create your customized price.Safe drivers could earn up to a 30% discount. Some drivers may see a rate increase.
Will the driving score be applicable for the life of my policy?
Yes, your final driving score will be applied to your premium for the life of your policy. Can I opt-out of RightTrack before completing the review period?
Yes. You can opt-out at any time during the 90-day review period by contacting our service team. Your insurance coverage will continue, but your initial discount will be removed from your policy and your premium will be adjusted to reflect this change. Is a discount guaranteed at the end of the RightTrack review period?
Discounts are based on safe driving, and risky behaviors may increase your rate. In some states, a discount is guaranteed, but in other states your renewal premium may go up. Your final savings will depend on driving performance and how many drivers participate. Non-participating drivers can reduce your overall discount. Encourage every driver on your policy to participate and practice safe driving to maximize your savings. How will I be notified of my final driving score?
In some states, your final driving score will appear in the app and you'll keep your initial 10% or 15% discount until your policy renews. At renewal, you'll receive new policy documents that reflect any changes to your premium for participating in the RightTrack program. In other states, your final score will be applied to your policy once all participating drivers have completed their review periods, replacing your initial 10% or 15% discount. Once this has happened, you'll be notified in the app and by email. If your final score is different than your initial discount, you will also receive new policy documents that reflect this change within a few weeks after completing the program.
- Will the app work on any phone?
To participate in RightTrack and Accident Assistance, you need a smartphone that has the following:- GPS location capabilities.
- An accelerometer, gyroscope, and proximity sensors.
Some Android phones don't have these features. iPads, tablets, and Windows phones are not compatible. If your phone isn't compatible, you'll see an incompatibility message when you open the app.
What impact does the app have on my phone battery?
The amount of battery used depends on the model of your phone. The app uses about the same amount of battery as other driving navigation apps. We recommend charging your phone while driving if you're taking a long trip. If your battery has 20% or less power, the Accident Assistance feature will not work and we'll stop collecting data in order to preserve your remaining battery. How much data will the app use?
How is my driving data protected?
Data usage varies depending on the amount of engagement with the app. From a strictly trip-capture standpoint, the app uploads about 500-600KB of data per hour of driving. If you were to drive 1 hour/day for a month, it would equate to 18MB of data, a small fraction of a typical US data plan.
Liberty Mutual will not sell the data collected through participation in RightTrack. We may use the data as permitted by law, including for purposes of adjusting your auto insurance premium, servicing your policy, providing services related to RightTrack, developing rate or premium information, developing other services and benefits to offer to you or other customers, underwriting, for claims purposes, or for research. Please refer to the RightTrack Terms & Conditions and Accident Assistance Terms & Conditions for additional details on how Liberty Mutual protects your privacy. How do I register in the app?
Is my data always being collected?
Once you enroll in RightTrack and download the app, you'll need to register using your Liberty Mutual online account information OR use the activation code from your welcome email. If you are not the primary driver, you will register using your activation code.
No, your driving data is only collected when the app detects vehicle movement. Your trip data might be delayed in uploading to the app when there is poor cellular data connection. - I started participating in RightTrack as a Safeco customer. What if some drivers on my policy started participating in RightTrack on the Safeco app before the brand change?
RightTrack 90-day participants who registered in the Safeco Mobile app can complete within the Safeco Mobile app. If you didn't complete registration within the Safeco Mobile app, you will have to register in the Liberty Mutual Mobile app. There is no impact to discounts or scores if drivers on your policy participate on different apps.RightTrack Continuous participants that started on the Safeco Mobile app prior to 4/25/26 can continue on the Safeco app until 7/24/26. All participants must move to the Liberty Mutual Mobile app prior to that date, but drivers on a former Safeco policy can participate on either app until that time. RightTrack Continuous participants may be removed from RightTrack and/or Accident Assistance.
