RightTrack: Step by step
First, make sure to enroll in RightTrack when you join Liberty Mutual.
You will receive an email with instructions on how to get started.
Download the Liberty Mutual RightTrack app and encourage all drivers on your policy to do the same.
Make sure to forward the activation codes to other participating drivers on your policy.
Drive for 90 days. Track your trips and savings in the RightTrack app.
We'll confirm your discount and apply it to your premium. You could see savings between 5% and 30% on your policy.

Which driving behaviors does RightTrack observe?
The RightTrack discount is based on the following driving behaviors: total miles driven, nighttime driving, braking, and acceleration.
Is there a cost associated with the program?
The RightTrack app is free but similar to other apps on your phone, it utilizes data. Applicable data charges will be the responsibility of the smartphone owner.
How is my final discount calculated?
By participating in RightTrack, you will receive a final discount between 5% and 30%. The final discount is determined by evaluating the driving behavior of all drivers on your policy. Drivers who participate contribute to the overall policy savings by sharing their driving behavior. Drivers who do not participate will reduce the overall policy savings because their driving behavior is unknown.
Can I transfer the discount when I add or replace a vehicle on my policy?
Yes. If you change or add new vehicles at any point, we will apply your RightTrack discount to those vehicles. Please contact Liberty Mutual for assistance with changing or adding vehicles.
Will the discount be applicable for the life of my policy?
Yes, your final RightTrack discount will apply to your vehicles, or their replacements, for the life of your policy.
Can I opt out of RightTrack before completing the review period?
Yes. You can opt out at any time during the 90-day review period by contacting Liberty Mutual. Your insurance coverage will continue, but your initial discount will be removed from your policy and your premium will be adjusted to reflect this change.
How does the program work?
RightTrack is a program that puts you in control of your auto policy savings. We'll notice the safe choices you're making on the road and reward you with a 5% to 30% discount on your auto insurance premium for completing the Liberty Mutual RightTrack Program. After you enroll, simply download the app, drive for 90 days and save!
Once you enroll in RightTrack, you will immediately receive an initial discount on your auto policy. Drivers on your policy will need to download the Liberty Mutual RightTrack app and register. Then, all you have to do is drive as you normally would for 90 days. At the end of the program, we will determine your final RightTrack discount and apply it to your policy.
Is a discount guaranteed at the end of the RightTrack review period?
Yes. However, your final discount may be greater than or less than your initial discount based on driving performance and the number of drivers participating. Maximize your savings by encouraging all drivers on your policy to participate, and by demonstrating safe driving behaviors. Non-participating drivers will reduce your savings. If your final discount is less than your initial discount, you will receive a bill for the difference.
How will Liberty Mutual notify me of my final discount?
Your final discount will be applied to your policy once all participating drivers have completed their review periods, replacing your initial discount. Once this has occurred, you will be notified in the app and by email. If your final discount is different than your initial discount, you will also receive new policy documents that reflect this change to your premium within a few weeks after completing the program.
Can I use RightTrack on any phone?
To participate in RightTrack, you need a smartphone that has the following:
- GPS location capabilities.
- An accelerometer, gyroscope, and proximity sensors. Some Android phones don't have these features. iPads, tablets, and Windows phones are not compatible.
If your phone isn't compatible, you'll see an incompatibility message when you open the app.
Why is it important to monitor my trip statuses?
Only trips where you are the driver count towards your savings. The app is very good at detecting when you are the driver in a vehicle, but it's still a good idea to check the app periodically to make sure all trips are correctly categorized.
What is the impact on my battery while using the RightTrack app?
The amount of battery used depends on the model of your phone. The RightTrack app uses about the same amount of battery as other driving navigation apps. We recommend charging your phone while driving if you’re taking a long trip. Trip recording will automatically stop when your phone’s battery life is at 20% and below or when battery save mode is on.
I am changing my phone. How do I continue to participate in RightTrack?
In order to continue with the RightTrack program, simply download the RightTrack app from the app store on your new phone, be it Apple or Android. Once downloaded, follow the steps to login. Once you've successfully logged in, you will be able to continue using the app.
How much data will the app use?
Data usage varies depending on the amount of engagement with the app. From a strictly trip capture standpoint, the app uploads about 500-600KB of data per hour of driving. If you were to drive 1 hour/day for a month, it would equate to 18MB of data, a small fraction of a typical US data plan. To minimize the amount of data the RightTrack app uses, go to Settings within the RightTrack app and toggle "Upload my trip data over WiFi" on. This will only restrict data usage for sending your trips to Liberty for processing. Your phone will still use data during trip capture.
How is my data used?
A complete list of collected data can be viewed at https://www.libertymutual.com/telematics-data. This list will be updated as the data changes. The data we collect will not affect either policy cancellation or nonrenewal. We may retain the collected data indefinitely, subject to state requirements. We may use the data in connection with any insurance claim, including for purposes of reporting, investigating and adjusting such claim(s). We may use the data on an aggregated basis for research purposes. We reserve the right to collect data as long as the technology is in use and may retain the collected data as allowed by law. How is my data protected?
Liberty Mutual will not sell the data collected through participation in RightTrack. We may use the data as permitted by law, including for purposes of adjusting your auto insurance premium, servicing your policy, providing services related to RightTrack, developing rate or premium information, developing other services and benefits to offer to you or other customers, or for research. How can I view my driving information and the projected premium discount?
At any time during the 90-day review period, you can review your driving patterns and see your projected current premium savings by monitoring the Dashboard and the Savings Details pages of the RightTrack app.
How do I register in Liberty Mutual's RightTrack mobile app?
Once you enroll in RightTrack and download the app, you'll need to enter your Activation code provided to you in the Welcome Email you received at the email address you provided when applying for your policy. You'll then need to create an account using your email address.
Is my data continuously collected?
No, your driving data is only collected when the app detects vehicle movement.
Does every listed operator need to download the RightTrack Mobile app?
No, but in order to get the most accurate data and driver/passenger distinction, we encourage every driver with a smartphone to download the app and participate.
