Arizona Auto Insurance Information
Arizona operates under a Financial Responsibility system. This means that, should you ever get in an accident or be pulled over for speeding, you will be required to provide proof that if you were to cause any damage with your car, you would be able to cover the costs. The easiest way to fulfill this obligation is through purchasing auto insurance. The Arizona Department of Insurance law stipulates a minimum level of certain types of auto insurance coverage. These include:

  • Bodily Injury to Others: $15,000 per person / $30,000 per accident
  • Property Damage Liability: $10,000 per accident

Most people opt for higher amounts of auto insurance coverage than the state minimums in order to protect themselves in case of an accident.

As a border state, Arizona residents often ask us about their auto insurance coverage while driving in Mexico. Arizona auto insurance policies written by Liberty Mutual, include a "Mexico Extension Endorsement" that contains limited Mexican coverage (limited to within 75 miles of the U.S. border and 10 consecutive days in Mexico) on your auto insurance policy. Ask your Local Agent for more details.
